Crusader Kings 2 Zoroastrian
  1. Crusader Kings 2 Zoroastrian Inbreeding

It's very difficult using them special event troops is the only thing thats going to give you any chance at all. Conquer Turkmenistan first (hopefully no one will side with them), then pick on the Islamic satrapies when they war with one another otherwise they ally and steamroll you.

It's being hit and miss for me being honest, its 1099 in my game and I hold the Persian Empire but lost a ton of wars in the process. If the worst comes to pass and your unable to expand you could try swearing fealty to Byzantine or Hungary (if their crown laws let you launch wars) and expand under their banner. It's risky and I wouldn't do it unless your already a king (in byzantines case) but it might help you expand while giving you some allied armies to do the heavy lifting. Of course your going to have to grow strong enough to rebel.

I've been wondering, why is it the zoroastrians don't get that bonus all the other new religions get, the religous one that you can see when mousing over the icon at the top right of the religon page? Of all the religions I checked(and I checked every one I could) only the old religions don't get a bonus(orthodox, christian, miaphysite, sunni) then the new ones all get very large bonuses like the norse get Levy Size +30%, Retinue Size +50% and the Slavic / Romuva get +40% Garrison Size for all holdings, and.8 Morale or armies and 40% garrison size and 80% unit defense for all holdings of your religion and the Tengri get +30% Levy Size, +30% Light Cav offense, +30% Light Cav Defense. The Zoroastrians would be a lot easier if they had one of these very powerful bonuses I think. Careful swearing to Byzantium. They like to revoke your titles. Originally posted by:I've been wondering, why is it the zoroastrians don't get that bonus all the other new religions get, the religous one that you can see when mousing over the icon at the top right of the religon page?

Anyone have a clue on how to do this? I've tried every possible dynasty/character in both Charlemagne and in the Old Gods starting dates and in the end some ♥♥♥♥♥♥bag.cough. sunni ruler.cough. always ♥♥♥♥s me up in the end.The farthest I've come is with Karen and had like 38 titles under me at most (captured Samanid territories and Tabaristan early game). People keep saying that you should conquer the Tengri but I guess that's outdated because all that is up there now is some crappy tribes that hardly provide any manpower. The Saffarid which just won't dissolve into inheritance-wars or even revolts just destroys me at the 10 year truce intervals. Either that or Abassid looks at me with really hungry eyes.I know that this is supposed to be a challenge, but to be honest I've tried and failed like 10 times now.

I feel that I've got a good grip on game mechanics and usually don't make bad decisions, it's just that the muslim threat is so overwhelming. I've tried sneaking about and snatching duchies from minor rulers when the other big muslim kingdoms/empires is at war, but if they don't join the ruler I'm attacking, then they just deal with me when they're done with their own wars. Now that I'm done whining about how OP muslims are, any constructive critique or tips? Please help me, I'm like addicted to getting the achievements of this. The ultra-cheaty way used to be to start as the Saffarids and convert, but I think converting religion (at least from Islam to Zoroastrianism) has been made a lot harder now.And you should still conquer the Tengri, even if you release them as independent Zoroastrian states (anything which makes you harder to holy war is worth it). Tribes can give an absolute ton of troops once they start upgrading and aren't as relaint on techning up, so you can pretty much go from 0 to 60 instantly if you have enough prestige to upgrade their holdings. I would suggest converting some Turks to Zoroastrianism and leaving them in charge, as I believe altaic cultures get better troops in the steppes than your Persian vassals would, but check that first.

If you make sure to always practice sacred marriage, the foreigner penalty shouldn't be too much of an issue. In fact, one alternative way to do it would be to start as the Yagbuid turks and convert to Zoroastrianism. The Yagbuids are well positioned in 867 to unite the steppes into Tartaria very quickly, and will get enough prestige by doing so to boost their levies very high. Keep tribal organization at medium so you can call your vassals into your wars (but also revoke vassals of the wrong religion), raid along the border until you have enough prestige to call in a couple of stacks of event troops (and/or upgrade your vassals holdings, since you'll be using their troops as well) and just bring a massive horde to sweep down into Persia. Once you've conquered enough to no longer be reliant on your tribal troops, go feudal and move your capital into Persia, then if you want to conver to Persian culture you can do that. @Doomcheese I will keep that in mind!@Ranger.Danger Tried Justanid once, actually went very well early game. Managed to fight back the Abassid when they declared their inevitable Holy War on me.

Got a nice 1000G for that. But when they had dealt with the Shia and Saffarid had dealt with Karen there were just a ♥♥♥♥♥torm of muslims all over my Shahdom.@Deep Hurting I have not thought of that at all! I will definitely try out your strategy with the Yagbuid. I would try the Saffarid one only as a last resort because I could not feel as satisfied if I were to restore the Empire that way. After all that the muslims have done to me, it has become clear that my sole purpose in this game is to convert all of their lands to Zoroastrianism. One way or the other.
